Thanksgiving 2012

I'm trying to get caught back up before Christmas.

Berclair Local News:

This was the year for the Davis family reunion at the May farm.  The Cook family were four of about 60 descendants of the Davis family that were present.  Their two-year-old daughter, Jenny, may have no idea that her great-great-grandmother lived here, but she knows that it's a fun place.

Jenny especially enjoyed the giant turkey and the sand pit.

Her parents enjoyed walking on a road where you couldn't even hear cars in the distance 

and a centuries-old tree that you can climb in!

There was plenty of turkey and dressing to go around, along with 

everyone's holiday favorites like tamales, deviled eggs and buttermilk pie.

Following the festivities, the Cook family made their way to the coast to visit Great Grandpa Paslay.

Taking advantage of the mild weather, they rode the ferry to Mustang Island and it's wonderful beach.

Many porpoises were spotted from the deck of the ferry.

This year the water was a little cold for swimming, so they pulled out the shovels right away to create a new masterpiece. 

The seagulls, as always, were hungry.

The beach is fun for everyone, as long as you stay out of the way of sharks.

 An exhausting visit to the park and watching Johnny football closed out the trip, and all headed safely home.

My Big Two-Year-Old

 It's been a while since I did and update on Jenny.  She is growing so fast.      

She still loves babies, her most recent fascination being baby Ruthie.

Her favorite baby is Alexa, and I catch them having all sorts of fun together, laughing and smiling.

She likes to do Bible study, and we've been learning about baby Jesus.  

The story is rather confusing to her still with "Baby Moses", his mother "married", 

and wondering where Stacie is in all these pictures of Joseph :)

We've been spending lots of time outside in the nice weather

and learning the finer points of baking.

Her favorite baking activity was her birthday cake.

She got a black eye just in time for her birthday.

She also learned how to do "3" with her fingers, to where I could hardly get her to do "2".

She has since discovered how to do "4" and can interlace her fingers.

 For her birthday, we rode some miniature trains (which was scary at first).

We ate train sandwiches and she got a new "Smart Cookie" shirt.

She is definitely a smart Cookie, learning to recognize "J for Jenny", speaking in first person, and saying all kinds of new things.

My first camping trip

Hey folks, Alexa here.  I finally got a little time on the computer to tell you about my first camping trip.

After the first day, it was cold.  Really cold

I had to bundle up tight at night.  Even then it was too cold to go back to bed after my early morning feeding, so I had to snuggle with Mommy for the rest of the night.  Jenny even got to snuggle one of the nights.

Snuggling is definitely one of my favorite things, so our hammock was just right.

Jenny and I liked this "Cookie pile" which would only have been better if we could have eaten cookies.

This campground has some nice attractions, like watching Daddy hone his balancing skills. 

Well, I was watching some of the time.

I think Mommy and Daddy enjoyed the time I was napping.

They also have a nice playground for Daddy to play with us.

I hope we go camping again next year.

I can't wait till I'm old enough to help carry firewood and have my own chair like Jenny.

Maybe it will be just a little warmer too, so I can get down on the ground and play.

Trying to get a picture

I felt ambitious this week and tried to get a good picture of the girls by myself.

They were in a good mood, but getting them to smile at the same time?

Even sitting still was a challenge.

" I wanted to smile juuust for you,

 but the bench was too long."

We had some mild success...   

I was about to give up, when I decided to bribe a little.  

"Look at the box of candy!"  

Alexa seems to think she will get some.
